Volunteer Work Changes Lives!

Thanks to the dedication of Volunteer Citizenship teachers Amy Lin, Alice Bragg, and Megan Stoffer, and for all the time spent preparing her for this wonderful moment, Citizenship student Lyudmyla passed her U.S. Citizenship Interview on February 4th! Amy also worked diligently tutoring Lyudmyla for three weeks before her interview, finishing up a path to citizenship began in Spring 2018.

Lyudmyla shares this with us:

My name is Lyudmyla. I am originally from Ukraine. I have moved to Houston, TX when I became a Lawful Permanent Resident in 2006. I am married and have 2 children.

I have applied for the US Citizenship in December 2019. In order to prepare for the US Citizenship I had become a student at MAM. Initially, I have attended US Citizenship classes from August 2017 to March 2018. Then I took a break due to work. I have again enroll in the US Citizenship class at MAM in January 2019. I successfully passed the US Citizenship test on February 4, 2021, and received the Naturalization Certificate on February 25, 2021 after taking the Oath of Allegiance.

I am very thankful and proud to be the US Citizen. I would like to express a very special gratitude and many many thanks to my favorite teacher Amy. She has done an amazing job! Amy is a very good specialist and a very good and kind person. Also, special thank you to Emma Murillo [MAM ESL & CItizenship Coordinator] and the rest of the staff who helped me so much in my journey to become the US Citizen! I am very grateful. Once again, thank you all!

Best Regards,

Lyudmyla
