PRESS RELEASE

Memorial Assistance Ministries Employee Generosity Makes a Huge Impact

Staff Funds an Entire Day of Services

HOUSTON, TX – October 18 – On Tuesday, October 18, 2016, the staff at Memorial Assistance Ministries celebrated a big success – funding an entire day of client services and classes at MAM.

Earlier this year, MAM employees took part in the organization’s annual campaign called Champions for Families. With approximately 90% participation, the staff raised roughly $12,500 through a combination of personal financial contributions and various fundraising activities, such as a dessert auction and sales of jeans day passes, hosted by the staff Champions committee. Those funds, along with a dollar-for-dollar match by the MAM Board of Directors, brought the total to $25,000, enough for an entire day of services and classes.

To celebrate, the staff gathered on Tuesday morning to offer a prayer for our community, recite a liturgy and share in a symbol of unity. The employees waved bubble wands to release hundreds of “bubbles of hope” into the air. A short reception followed, and employees returned to their work stations to assist clients and shoppers, and signage was displayed throughout the building for clients, visitors and volunteers to view as recognition for the staff’s dedication to the mission.

MAM Chairman of the Board, James Lytal said, “MAM would not be the strong, well-respected nonprofit that it is today without the employees’ efforts."

MAM is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring families have the means to meet their basic needs. Services include financial assistance for rent, utilities and medical needs, as well as educational opportunities for clients to learn English, develop skills for employment, increase financial responsibility, and navigate the process to become a citizen. Clients and staff work in partnership to identify needs and develop customized plans to help lead to more successful outcomes. For more information about MAM, please visit www.maministries.org.
