I always dreamed to be a businesswoman.” - Reem A.
When Reem Alobaid first arrived in Houston, she carried more than just luggage. She carried responsibility. She carried hope. And she carried a dream.
Like many newcomers rebuilding their lives, Reem knew that education would be her foundation. She immersed herself in her studies, determined to learn, grow, and create opportunities—not only for herself, but for everyone counting on her.
“When I came here, and I start studying and I start to see people, it just push me to do all my best, to study a lot,” she shares.
At MAM Houston, Reem found more than classes. She found encouragement. She found inspiration. She found community.
“To have these nice people with you, supporting you—MAM, my friends in my class—all them inspiring me all the time. They just give me power.”
That power fuels her every day.
Reem’s goal is clear: to become a businesswoman. But her dream goes far beyond personal success. For her, achievement carries responsibility.
“This is my dream. To help my family and to help my community and to help my other family in Syria. They needed all my help.”
Reem is driven by love—for her family here, for her community, and for her family in Syria. She wants to give back. She wants to uplift others. She wants to restore stability and dignity for the people she cares about.
“So, I try my best to keep my family in the same style that we used to live in Syria.”
That determination is what transformation looks like.
Today, Reem says something powerful:
“I’m very happy. I’m about to fly.”

At MAM Houston, stories like Reem’s remind us why community matters. When people are surrounded by support, education, and opportunity, dreams stop feeling distant. They start feeling possible.
Reem is not just studying. She is building. She is rising. She is preparing to fly.
And we cannot wait to see how high she goes.
