MAM’s Champions for Families follows a model in which families help families. The
MAM Champions for Families are those dedicated to giving every family in need, in
the Spring Branch and near Northwest Houston neighborhoods, a safety net and a path
to self-sustainability. As Champions, we will provide leadership, advocacy and financial
resources to MAM’s core program – its family assistance services.
It takes approximately $300 each year for MAM to make a real difference in one family’s
life — just $300 to keep a family in their home and give them skills to improve
their life and get on the road to self-sufficiency.
Champions seek to help MAM’s 8,000 annual client families with resources to solve
the immediate problem that threatens their stability. This “safety net” spares families
imminent eviction and keeps them in their homes. We then help these families address
the underlying cause of their instability — which may be limited English, underemployment,
or a family or medical problem.

“What Barb and I love about MAM is it is a very direct and visible way to help those families within our own community who are less fortunate. There are so many needs in the world it is daunting to consider where to begin to provide help. Close to home and direct seems to make the most sense to us. MAM is truly one of those local “points of light” that makes a difference.” Bob and Barb Zorich |

“We love the business model at MAM of people doing what they can to help each other make it through difficult times. And, no doubt, these are especially difficult times for so many in our community. MAM is right in our own neighborhood helping people at its door step. We know that every dollar we give MAM goes directly to someone that really needs it. That makes us feel good! “During my working life I’ve always made contributions to charities, but they were mostly national or global in nature that I heard about through the media. Once I started volunteering at MAM, I saw what a need there was in our own neighborhood. I saw how well MAM responded to the need and how efficiently it was done. I still make contributions to some global organizations, but the bulk of my contributions now goes to support MAM and their activities.” Jill Morell |
